“What an absolute diabolical disaster” – Enraged fans ask for reimbursement as FIA rules against having audience in the grandstands for FP2 at Las Vegas GP

The news about the amount of money Liberty Media is showing on the Las Vegas GP has already made headlines in F1 town. With a sky-high budget of $500,000,000 and ticket prices reached over a million dollars, everyone expected the first-ever race on the Vegas Strip to be absolutely epic. Putting an end to the fans’ year-long anticipation, the weekend in the Sin City has already kickstarted but till now, it has proven to be an epic disaster.

The incidents on the track sprung up during the first Free Practice session as Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz proceeded to do some laps to get an idea of the new circuit. What seems to have gone unaddressed by the humongous budget for the Las Vegas GP are the manhole covers on the Strip. Sainz rammed into one of those metal obstructions and his SF-23 sustained some serious damage too. This put an end to the FP1 session which could only last for 9 minutes.

Fans claim the F1 Las Vegas GP is living up to its name since everyone loses money in the Sin City

Las Vegas is famous for being the gambling capital of the world with its host of casinos. Thus, it is a common notion that the tourists who visit the ‘Sin City’ often end up losing their money because they keep buying chips and gambling them away. And as the latest addition to Formula 1’s US calendar is taking place on the Vegas Strip, hence fans believe everyone should have expected that the race would rob all the members of the audience of their money.

In reaction to the fact that those who bought $200 tickets to the FP sessions at the Las Vegas GP would only get to see the action for 9 minutes, here is what the fans have said–

In other news, Ferrari Boss Frederic Vasseur fumed at the FIA for their negligence leading Carlos Sainz’s incident during the FP1 session in Las Vegas. He complained about the heavy amount the team would have to shell out to repair the Spaniard’s SF-23 floor damage. But even though it is evidently the organizers’ fault for not welding the manhole covers shut, the FIA proceeded to give a 10-place grid penalty to Sainz for changing car parts.
