Carlos Sainz and the Ferrari F1 team had an outing to forget at the 2023 Australian GP. While Charles Leclerc bowed out of the event during the initial moments of the race, Carlos Sainz, on the other hand, had to go through a terrible phase during the third restart of the event. Before the final restart, Sainz was looking all-set for a top-5 finish, but his collision with Fernando Alonso going into Turn 1 cost him dearly as he was smacked with a 5-second penalty by the FIA.

Carlos Sainz, after the race, was not pleased with the penalty, and Ferrari recently appealed against it. However, the FIA, with its recent decision, has completely dismissed the Maranello-based team’s appeal. This has not sat well with the Ferrari fans, and they have taken to Twitter to let their frustration known over the FIA’s penalties.

The Australian GP was an extremely important race in Ferrari’s hopes of getting back in the Championship fight. Still, the way everything has panned out, including the FIA’s antics, fans of the Italian outfit are genuinely saddened, especially for Carlos Sainz, Ferrari’s sole hope of scoring strong points in Melbourne.

Fans’ reactions to the FIA’s dismissal of Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz penalty appeal

Looking at the fan’s reactions, it is quite clear they are extremely disappointed with how the FIA has treated the Ferrari F1 team regarding their Carlos Sainz penalty appeal. They have completely blasted F1’s regulating body but have, on their hands, indirectly taken a dig at the Italian team for all the shenanigans that have taken place on the team. No one can blame them, as Ferrariis house has been in utter chaos in 2023.

Ferrari has got an uphill battle in the 2023 F1 season

The 2023 F1 season is three races down, and the Ferrari F1 team has already found itself on the back foot in comparison to Mercedes, Aston Martin, and the mighty Red Bull F1 team. As things stand, the Italian team is fourth in the Constructors Championship with only 26 points to name, Mercedes is currently third but are 30 points ahead of them.

From Baku onwards, the onus is going to be on Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz to get their team back on the right track. Ferrari’s Monegasque driver has only amassed 6 points in the season, whereas Sainz has managed only 20. If they want to have a say at least in the Constructors Championship fight, then they will need to start performing on a consistent basis from Baku onwards.

Considering everything that has happened around the Fred Vasseur-led Ferrari F1 team so far in the 2023 F1 season, do you think they would be able to make a strong comeback in the upcoming races? There are still 20 races left in the season, and it is going to be fascinating to see how Ferrari’s remaining campaign will pan out.
