Alpine’s Esteban Ocon was involved in an unfortunate collision with Fernando Alonso in the recent Sprint shootout qualifying session. Fans shared their piece of mind over the disastrous weekend sprint shootout for the Frenchman.

Esteban Ocon was on a fast lap and did not expect the Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso to take a small turn inside. Due to this uncertainty, both the cars got involved in a racing incident. It seems as if Ocon lost control of his car for a brief second and struggled to control the car at turn 3.

This incident did not affect Alonso as much as Ocon where he DNF’ed from the race and Red Flagged the session. Alonso suffered a few punctures but was able to get back to the pits.

Both the drivers are gladly unhurt, Ocon’s car crashed with the barrier and tore the Pirelli advertisement page. But the dramatic spin-out did not cause any other bigger incidents on the track and Alonso safely moved away from the crash spot.

Speculations have started about whose mistake has actually caused the accident. It seems that it was an unfortunate racing incident and both the drivers could have made minuscule changes to potentially avoid the crash. After the track conditions are reverted back to normal, the second session is supposed to start soon.

Fans quickly trolled Esteban Ocon for the crash

In a recent tweet on X, Multiple fans bashed the Frenchman. They blamed Esteban Ocon for the crash and called it his fault. One fan commented on his nationality and called this moment a ‘classic croissant merchant’. And another fan called others to have a good laugh on Ocon due to the crash between the two racers.

A particular fan called the 27-year-old the Red Flag due to the crash. Another fan claimed that the penalty for Ocon should be for a lifetime due to this major mistake. Some fans even called him ‘slowcon’ due to his slow pace but a big crash with Alonso.

Despite the unfortunate crash, Esteban Ocon was showing amazing improvement in pace. The team looked hopeful of a good sprint session from both the French drivers. Nevertheless, the team will comeback from the crash and attempt to score great results in the final sprint race of this season at the Brazilian GP.
