Lewis Hamilton, the Mercedes Formula 1 driver, is currently engaged in an enthralling battle at the Brazilian GP. While the Brit has got both his hands full in trying to fend off his rivals, he has created immense noise on the web for waving the Brazilian flag upside-down ahead of the race.

Lewis Hamilton is an honorary citizen of Brazil and the Brazilian GP is considered as his second home race after the British GP. He has received a lot of love from the fans since landing in the country but his antics of waving the flag upside down have created a bit of an uproar among the fans.

The fans of the pinnacle of moto racing are well known for being absolutely blunt with their reactions and in Hamilton’s case, the same has happened. They have bombarded X with their aggressive reactions and are expected to keep doing it considering how disappointed the fans have been in the Brit’s actions.

Looking at the reactions of the fans, it is quite clear that they are not pleased with the 38-year-old for waving Brazil’s flash wrongly at the Interlagos Formula 1 circuit. Some of the fans have even taken it a step too far by questioning his honorary citizenship in the South American country.

Lewis Hamilton has fallen backward during the Brazilian GP

While Lewis Hamilton has come under immense fire for his actions ahead of the ongoing 71-lap race, his on-track exploits are also not going as per plan. Since the start of the race, he has fallen backward on the grid and is currently trying his best to keep hold of his eighth position.

The lights of Yuki Tsunoda and Esteban Ocon are hot on his heels and could overtake him by the closing stages of the race. The Mercedes’s W14 has just not worked well at the Autodromo Carlos Jose Pace F1 circuit since hitting the tracks during the Friday sessions. The German outfit has been on the back foot in comparison to its rivals.

Moreover, if Lewis Hamilton ends his exploits in a disappointing P8, it would be a body blow for him as far as his chances of securing second place in the 2023 Drivers Championship would be concerned. Red Bulls Sergio Perez is currently running in fourth place and is looking all set to score a truckload of points.
