The Mexican GP is expected to be the redemption race for Sergio Perez. After losing 16 races in a row, the Mexican has promised better results on his home soil. He performed well in the practice sessions and finished P3 and P5 in the two sessions, respectively. In a recent practice session, Checo’s dad, Antonio Perez, was spotted at the Red Bull paddock.

Antonio Perez Garibay is a Member of the Mexican Chamber of Deputies. The 64-year-old has been spotted on the grid often at the Mexican races. Perez’s dad has been actively attending the race weekends to support his son at his home race. The entire fanbase, along with his family, are hopeful that the 33-year-old to shine at the Mexican GP weekend and score some amazing results.

Red Bulls were concerned for the safety of the team and the drivers. The fans’ agitation towards the team has raised this concern, stemming from controversies involving racist comments and Perez’s inability to outperform his teammates due to his nationality. But it seems that all is well in the paddock as Papa Perez was spotted smiling and laughing in the paddock despite the safety concerns of the team.

In the past, Papa Perez has shown some amazing maturity. Perez senior has stated that his son was accepted into the team under the circumstance of behind the second driver behind Max Verstappen. Subsequently, he also added that Checo has to earn a seat in Red Bull, and he has to work to be deserving of a seat in Red Bull.

Fans call Papa Perez ‘Legend of all Legends’

Papa Perez was shown smiling and giggling in the paddock at the session. He also displayed ‘numero uno’ with his fingers, depicting his hopes for Checo this weekend. Fans on X mocked Papa Perez over this action. They added how Papa Perez is a side character in the sport yet acts like a main character. Additionally, fans called him a ‘corrupt politician’ as he is a Mexican politician. Fans also called this action as ‘cringe’ and called him ‘annoying’.

On the other hand, some fans called his smile ‘priceless’ and ‘precious.’ At the same time, one user called Papa Perez the ‘symbol’ of Mexican GP. Others added that it was lovely to see Papa Perez happy and smiling at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez circuit. However, the majority of users slammed the 64-year-old. One user said, “Side character mistakenly thinks they’re the star.”

Sergio Perez needs to perform well at the Mexican GP after his recent performances. He is showing improvement in his Pace and has scored so well so far this weekend. All hopes are on the 33-year-old to score a stellar victory at his home ground and prove his worth in Formula 1.
