Formula 1 is the pinnacle of motorsport. Millions of fans tune in to watch F1 races every year in a bid to cheer for their favorite driver. Additionally, motorsport has always been a ground for some incredible rivalries. Thus, this combination of fans and stories has often led to some stellar movies such as Rush or Ford vs Ferrari. The latest of this will be Michael Mann’s take on Enzo Ferrari, ‘Ferrari’ played by House of Gucci actor Adam Driver.
‘Ferrari’ will showcase the life of the legendary Enzo Ferrari. Enzo is the founder of Scuderia Ferrari and subsequently, the man behind the iconic Prancing Horse we see today. Consequently, fans had awaited Adam Driver’s look for this film ever since Adam’s involvement in 2022. The image depicts Driver wearing a coat similar to what Enzo wore back in the day. Along with sunglasses and an almost identical hairstyle.
Adam Driver appears to act rather tense in this photograph. Some have speculated this image to be from the 24th Mille Miglia in 1957. This event was a turning point for Enzo as Ferrari lost a driver and navigator in a terrible tragedy, with 10 spectators also witnessing their demise. As such, this major emphasis might be put on this race in the film as a means of character growth for Enzo Ferrari.

A large chunk of fans call for an Italian actor
After this picture surfaced on Reddit, fans were quick to express their disappointment about the star-studded cast. Many users remarked on Adam Driver’s selection to play the Italian team boss on the basis of Driver’s previous performances. One user said, “Why do directors keep casting him as an Italian? Did anyone find his performance in House of Gucci convincing?” While another fan stated their disapproval in a simple manner, the fan replied, “Why Adam Driver… Just Why.”
Another user was astonished to find Adam Driver getting the role to play Enzo Ferrari. The fan wrote, “Whoa whoa whoa, they’re letting him go “full Italian “ again? Madness.” On the other hand, one user expressed their views on the teaser image. The user commented, “Why do I get the older Rap God video Eminem vibe from this?,” a reference to the music video of famous Rapper Eminem’s hit song, ‘Rap God.’ Certainly, it would be interesting to see the film’s other character looks such as Niki Lauda.
Certainly, one image is not enough to judge a movie or its actors, Fans must wait till the film’s release this year before critiquing Adam Driver’s casting as Enzo Ferrari. It might just happen that the American actor pulls a surprise and reenacts the F1 legend perfectly. Although, considering Driver’s track record of playing Italian personalities, some fans believe the chances to be low. However, only time can tell whether this comes true or not.
