Formula 1 constantly includes new additions to tracks and race calendars to keep the sport’s excitement at its peak. Hence, as the teams head into the 2024 season, Formula 1 revealed another new track development. The Jeddah circuit for the Saudi Arabian GP will be shifted to a new track currently being built in Qiddiya.
The high-speed track layout will be completed by 2027 and conduct the Saudi Arabian GP, replacing the previous Jeddah street circuit. The new track being built has some interesting features that are never seen before in any Formula 1 circuit to date. The circuit will feature a 70m incline in the first corner called ‘The Blade’ which is approximately 20 stories tall. Saudi Arabia’s new circuit will be named ‘The Speed Park Track.’
Additionally, the circuit will feature 21 corners and the approximate elevation difference of the track will be an astonishing 108m. Hence, Qiddiya’s X page published a teaser for the new circuit currently being built. Hence, the entire grid was surprised at knowing the astounding elevation climb in the initial turn of the circuit.

Fans uncertain about the designs of the Qiddiya track
In a recent tweet on X, multiple fans shared their opinions about the new circuit being built. One fan recalled the infamous game Mario Kart’s awkward and weird tracks and its resemblance to the new circuit. Another fan mentioned that the track was “Not safe”. Additionally, one fan added that the ‘rise’ part of the track seemed dangerous.
Meanwhile, another fan added that the track will be reckless and fun, but dangerous at the same time. A particular fan added that the track was unsafe but raised his bafflement with F1’s involvement with a country that doesn’t respect human rights. However, some had a positive view of the circuit and mentioned that the circuit looked fun.

So if there is a crash in this high corner and cars lift off they kind of fell down a cliff of 100m? Sure

Looks unsafe but I'm still baffled we're racing in a country that doesn't respect human rights.

However, the new circuit layout would definitely increase fan’s and drivers’ excitement to an all-time high. The circuit has put forth some amazing features and would be something new for the drivers to drive around. However, alongside building the track, the circuit would need to abide by FIA’s strict guidelines and protocols for designing a circuit.
