“Where is the black?” – Fans react as Mercedes teases potential 2023 F1 livery color palette

The Mercedes F1 team is presently one of the most iconic names in Formula 1. The German squad is known for its classic paint shade of silver and is often referred to as the Silver Arrows. Although, the team ran an all-black livery for the 2020 and 2021 F1 seasons. Mercedes brought back the silver last year in yet another beautiful-looking car. It seems that 2023 will continue this color scheme but with a twist.
Mercedes recently uploaded a clip on Twitter. The video showcased three paint containers with different shades of paint. The Brackley-based team teases the fans with a speculative caption. The team wrote, “Excited to show you what we’ve been working on.” The German outfit even tagged paint store, Sherwin Williams in the tweet. Certainly, many have believed this to be an indication of the Mercedes W14 livery.
The colors showcased by Mercedes include some eye-popping shades. The Petronas neon is clearly evident in the video and is part of the team’s longstanding partnership with the oil giant. The red is part of the Ioenos partnership with Mercedes, with Ioenas owning a 33% stake in the F1 team. The last shade appears to be somewhat different in that it can’t be deciphered accurately. It will be exciting to see what Lewis Hamilton and George Russell get to race with this season.

Fans are disappointed as the Mercedes clip does not have black
Fans on Twitter had divided opinions over the clip. Many fans were excited to see what Mercedes turns up with for this season. One user wrote, “that’s not enough silver for the whole car.” Perhaps Toto Wolff‘s team might change things up this season with more other shades in the mix. Additionally, another fan appreciated the tone of the showcased colors in the clip. The fan replied, “THAT’S SO VIBRANT I LOVE IT.”
On the other hand, several users were unhappy with the lack of black in the video. One user commented, “NO ADM NOOO…where is the black???” Correspondingly, another fan replied, “If it’s not a black livery I don’t want it.” Similarly, one fan urged Mercedes to try out the black paint from Sherwin Williams. The fan wrote, “I hear they specialize in black paint.” It seems that fans want a return to Lewis Hamilton‘s domination in a black Mercedes.
Thus, Mercedes appears to be working on another silver livery. However, the paint shades might indicate a lesser prominent silver car with more neon and red. Though, for now, fans cannot be certain regarding the W14’s paint scheme except for one thing. It won’t be black. Hence, many fans are disappointed already due to the failure of the black to return. Although, the livery of the W14 will surely be a good one as is always the case at Mercedes.
