Formula 1 heads to Texas for the United States GP this weekend. The US has grown to become one of the most important markets for the sport in recent years. The race at the Circuit of the Americas has a massive fanbase. As such, Red Bull Racing was keen on running a special one-off livery in Austin to mark the occasion of this iconic spectacle.
Red Bull revealed its US GP livery on Twitter. The Milton Keynes-based team used American colors: red, white, and blue. The three colors span across the bottom half of the car to pay homage to the ‘Land of the Free.’ A few giant stars are prevalent on the car as well, which seem to be inspired by the 50 stars on the American flag.
Moreover, the flag of Texas is on the rear wing of the RB-19 as the race takes place in Austin. Certainly, the Red Bull RB-19 blends in perfectly in the US with its new colors. Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez would love to get behind the wheel of their newly-painted machine this weekend. Notably, the Austrian team had previously run a special livery for the Miami GP earlier this year.
Fans divided over Red Bull’s US GP livery
Fans on Twitter expressed their views on the new livery. Some users were not fond of the new colors. One fan claimed that the stripes along the car’s sides resembled their toothpaste tube. The fan wrote, “Looks like my toothpaste.” At the same time, another user reckoned that Red Bull should have reduced the number of stars. The user said, “It’s awful, too many stars.”
On the other hand, many fans appreciated the new design. One user believed that Red Bull chose the perfect livery to pay homage to the United States. The user commented, “I love this livery. It’s a great USA tribute!” Similarly, another fan expected the RB-19 to fit in with its surroundings at COTA this weekend. The fan replied, “Oh this is going to look so good racing ‘round COTA!!”
