“Massa is gonna steal this”- Fans react as the F1 Driver’s trophy makes an appearance at the Brazilian GP
The World Driver's Championship trophy has been showcased at the Brazilian GP with Felipe Massa in attendence amidst his legal battle with F1.

The Brazilian GP is a destination with an immense history around the event. Lewis Hamilton‘s maiden championship, the potential world championship for Felipe Massa, and many other crash events. Brazilian GP is indeed one of the fan-favorite races due to the rich heritage of the circuit.
Ahead of the main race, F1 brought in the trophy for the Driver’s championship. The trophy has a shiny silver color over it and contains a small emblem of the world and the continents. The trophy also contains the names and signatures of the previous championship winners, such as Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, and Sebastian Vettel.
Felipe Massa was spotted at the Brazilian GP after the ongoing legal war between Massa and FIA due to the 2008 championship controversy. Many people assumed that Massa would skip attending the Brazilian GP, but to everyone’s surprise, the Brazilian was indeed present at his home GP.
Many fans also claimed that Max Verstappen would win the Brazilian GP anyway since he is currently on a dominating winning streak. The fans think that the grid order and strategies are useless, are Verstappen will clinch the victory regardless.
Fans recalled the ’08 controversy with Felipe Massa
In the tweet on X, multiple fans recalled the 2008 championship controversy involving Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa. The fan claimed that Massa was robbed of the championship and claimed he was the rightful owner of the trophy. Another fan claimed that F1 will hand the trophy over to Massa regardless.
Another fan claimed that Stefano Domenicali [CEO of Formula 1] needed to keep the trophy secure, or Massa would steal it away as he deserves it anyway. Some fans include an image that depicted that Felipe Massa was the rightful owner of the 2008 World Championship and not Hamilton.
