Red Bull have dominated the 2023 Formula 1 season. The Austrian team has remained undefeated so far with a total of 14 race wins. Max Verstappen has won 12 races this year. However, the Singapore GP has proved to be a rather challenging weekend for the Dutchman and his team. Verstappen and teammate Sergio Perez were knocked out by none other than Liam Lawson.

Both Red Bull drivers were struggling during Free Practice on Friday. Max Verstappen admitted that the team was not as fast as initially anticipated for this weekend. During Q2, Verstappen and Perez were right at the risk of being knocked out of the Top 10 shootout. With Sergio Perez spinning out on his final run and losing all chances of getting into the next session.

On the other hand, Verstappen was trying to get the most out of his RB-19 in his final run. Unfortunately, the Dutchman’s fastest lap could only get him to a provisional P10. Liam Lawson racing for Red Bull’s sister team AlphaTauri was on his last run of the session when the Kiwi driver managed to lap faster than the two-time world champion. As such, Lawson managed to knock Max Verstappen out of Qualifying.

Moreover, one fan was baffled by this result as they never expected to see Verstappen fail to make it into the Top 3 this season. The fan replied, “Bruh I’m dead, never thought I’d look at something like this.” While another user called it the “Best moment of the season so far.” One fan suspected that Liam Lawson might be hearing from Red Bull regarding his performance in the session. The fan commented, “Liam may get called in by the bosses for knocking Max out.”

Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez will start the Singapore GP from P11 and P13 respectively. This comes as a major blow to Verstappen who is aiming to secure his eleventh win in a row. However, it seems that the Dutch driver will have to really push the Red Bull RB-19 in a bid to recover from this shocking Qualifying result at the Marina Bay Circuit.
