“Don’t disrespect a man that’s competed at Le Mans like that”- Fans SLAMS Pirelli for branding Patrick Dempsey a ‘Pretend Ferrari Driver’ while sharing an image of him with Charles Leclerc at Las Vegas GP
Pirelli Motorsport's social media team made a derogatory post that talked ill of the ex-motorsport driver Patrick Dempsey.

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc finished the Las Vegas GP qualifying impressively. The Monegasque driver qualified for the pole position for the fifth time this season. The award was presented to him distinctively and uniquely.
The American actor and ex-motorsports driver Patrick Dempsey awarded the Pirelli Pole Position award to the pole-sitter Charles Leclerc. Dempsey had raced in multiple racing formats, such as the 24 hours of LeMans and even the GT competition.

Images of the Monegasque receiving the pole plaque were shared by Pirelli Motorsport on X, and the image was captioned ‘A real Scuderia Ferrari driver meets a pretend Ferrari driver.’ Many viewed this tweet as derogatory and insulting to Dempsey, an ex-motorsport driver.

Most of the fans Brutally bashed Pirelli over the tweet and talked about better expectations from Pirelli. The major backlash that the tweet received has forced Pirelli to delete the entire tweet due to continuous comments.

However, the fans’ reactions to the tweet still linger and serve as a reminder of the insulting tweet made by the Social Media managers at the Pirelli Motorsport team. However, shortly after deleting the tweet, Pirelli retweeted the original tweet from F1 regarding the award ceremony and tried to overshadow the previous derogatory tweet.
Fans quickly SLAMMED Pirelli Motorsport over the tweet
The majority of fans didn’t appreciate Pirelli’s tweet. They talked about putting respect to Dempsey’s name and recalled Pirelli about the extended career that Patrick Dempsey had in the world of motorsport. Another fan insisted that Pirelli should not disrespect a man who had competed in the 24 hours of LeMans like that.

Other fans reminded that Dempsey had raced in the Daytona and LeMans, and this wasn’t the respect that he deserved, further questioning Pirelli over the level of respect that he deserved. The majority of the fans rebuked Pirelli over the tweet and displayed disbelief over the tweet made by them. Another fan questioned why he would want to be a ‘pretend Ferrari driver’ when he had already raced with Porsche in a LeMans race.
Why pretend to be a Ferrari driver when he's been a Porsche driver at Le Mans?

He competed in Le Mans and Daytona, owns a racing team and “pretend Ferrari driver” is the level of respect he gets?

Patrick Dempsey. A proper motorsport fan who just loves his racing. And he’s a real celebrity unlike certain so-called other “celebs” who turn up and fake an interest in the sport.

The tweet from Pirelli was definitely out of order and unnecessary from Pirelli. However, looking at the situation which Pirelli deleted the tweet, it seems that they were regretful of the tweet and did not think straight before posting the tweet. However, fans await a formal apology from the Pirelli Motorsport team over the derogatory tweet.
