Felipe Massa has been in the news lately for his legal battle with F1 and the FIA over the 2008 title. The Brazilian driver lodged a lawsuit aiming to overturn Lewis Hamilton‘s 2008 title due to the Crashgate scandal. The 42-year-old had proclaimed that he would likely miss his home GP this season. However, it seems that Massa decided to attend the race after all.

The former Ferrari driver was spotted in the F1 paddock at Interlagos. Many had doubted if Massa would come to watch his home race. The 42-year-old has not been in contact regarding his ambassadorial role with F1 ever since he filed his case. The Brazilian driver had made it clear that he would be ready to be absent from Sao Paulo this year.

However, it seems that the 42-year-old changed his mind. The former Ferrari driver stated that he remains passionate about the sport. As such, Felipe Massa decided to head to Interlagos to spectate the race despite rising tensions with Formula 1. Certainly, the Brazilian will raise several eyebrows during his visit.

Felipe Massa’s adamant on challenging 2008 title results

The former F1 driver has made it clear that the 2008 results should be addressed. Massa lodged this case after Bernie Ecclestone claimed to have known about the Crashgate scandal that year itself rather than a year later. Felipe Massa has cited these comments as the foundation for his fight with F1.

However, the 42-year-old has received backlash from fans and veterans alike. Massa’s efforts to perhaps take away Lewis Hamilton’s first championship 15 years later has not pleased critics either. Many have alleged that the Brazilian driver might be looking to gain millions of dollars out of this lawsuit.

Nevertheless, Felipe Massa has continued to speak in favor of his case. The 42-year-old has remained determined despite the opposition and lack of support in the paddock. The entire F1 paddock will be closely monitoring the progress of this case in the coming weeks. As such it remains to be seen if the Brazilian can bring home an unlikely victory.
