Spanish driver Fernando Alonso has a love and passion for racing and motorsport which is evident from his long Formula 1 career. However, the 42-year-old isn’t satiated by just racing in the sport, as he has now purchased a rare ex-DTM racing car built by Aston Martin, for which the veteran also races in Formula 1.

Alonso partook in a sponsor event at the Jarama circuit in Spain back in September 2023, where he drove the rare Aston Martin Vantage AMR driven by the Spanish driver Dani Juncadella. The driver raced in the same car back in the 2019 DTM season. However, the seller’s piece had to undergo some obvious modifications to make it road-legal and safe for other drivers.

Alonso purchased the DTM Vantage, which R-Motorsport prepared along with the engine manufacturer HWA AG, as one of five chassis. However, they didn’t disclose the exact selling price and other details to the public, although observers have noted the modifications made to the car to cater to the needs of the Formula 1 driver.

On Fernando Alonso’s request, the Vantage has been fit with a passenger seat in case the Spaniard has someone over who is eager to get their hands behind the amazing class 1 machine built by Aston Martin. The factory reduced the fuel tank size of the car additionally to enable taxi rides for the 42-year-old.

While Fernando Alonso was driving the rare Aston Martin Vantage around the Circuito Del Jarama, multiple family members and a couple of friends of the Spaniard were present at the venue. Others present at the circuit were, Dani Juncadella who drove a similar car back in 2019, and even MotoGP champion Marc Marquez.

Notably, Marquez sat in the passenger seat of the Vantage as Alonso took a few rounds of the 5.3km circuit. Sitting in the passenger seat, the six-time MotoGP champion was curious about how it feels driving high-speed machinery on four wheels. Marquez also took a few rounds around the circuit alongside Fernando Alonso in the AMR Vantage.

However, the five versions built for the car included a test version of the car. This test version was for sale and purchased by Alonso compared to the actual Vantage DMR driven by fellow Dani Juncadella. Since the Veteran’s purchase, buyers have acquired three out of the five versions of the car, leaving two still available for the rest of the public to purchase.
