Fernando Alonso hints at ‘mundane’ aspects that could dictate his future in F1
Fernando Alonso made it clear that his performance would not be a factor in his decision for the foreseebale future.

Fernando Alonso is the most experienced driver on the F1 grid. The 42-year-old has the most race starts under his belt in the sport’s history. Nevertheless, the Spaniard remains hungry for more. However, Alonso has finally revealed what could potentially decide his future in Formula 1 beyond 2024.
The two-time world champion’s current contract sees him race for Aston Martin till the end of 2024. Fernando Alonso made it clear that presently he remains happy with his performance level. The 42-year-old claimed that he would stop racing the day he felt he was not upto the mark.
If I feel slow one day, I think it will be noticeable and I will be not happy with my performance and I will be the first one to raise my hand and say ‘okay, this is this is time.’

However, the Aston Martin driver remains confident about his pace on the grid. Alonso even pointed out that his two-year sabbatical from F1 in 2018 was not because of his lack of pace. Rather, the Spanish driver wanted to take a break after a disastrous stint at McLaren.
But I don’t think that time will arrive, honestly, in terms of feeling slow because I have extreme self-confidence on my performance.
Fernando Alonso admitted that the long F1 calendar and the tedious schedules for race weekends could determine his future in the sport. As the two-time world champion might want to spend more time in things outside of F1. Recently Tennis icon Maria Sharapova expressed her surprise over the busy schedules of F1 drivers.
But it could be that with the calendar and with the mundane schedule that one day, I will feel that it’s time because, you know, there are other things in life.
Fernando Alonso admits 2023 F1 calender was demanding on the paddock
The two-time world champion opened up about the highly demanding 2023 F1 calendar. Although, Alonso pointed out that the sport had 22 races this year after two rounds were canceled. Subsequently, the 42-year-old was cautious about the upcoming season that would witness the entirety of 24 races.
It has been a very demanding season only with 22 races with two cancellations, next year with 24, the proper calendar. We have to see how it feels.
Moroever, Fernando Alonso voiced his surprise over the Las Vegas GP being in a triple header with Qatar and Abu Dhabi. This fixture could take a massive toll on drivers and personnel due to the massive time difference between the American city and the middle east. Alonso claimed that such a schedule does drain his energy.

Certainly, the F1 calendar has become lenghty in recent years. Drivers and teams have warned the sport about the possible repurcissions on personnel for the same. However, teams are now adopting rotating duties for members to ensure that not all members need to attend the entire season every year.
