Alpine Formula One driver Fernando Alonso had mentioned earlier that he prefers to stay with Alpine for 2023 rather than try for the long shot opportunity with Aston Martin who haven’t been performing as well in recent seasons. With his return to F1 in 2021, Fernando Alonso has been quick to shut off his critics and has put in some impressive results to show everyone that his age isn’t a variable to be considered while hiring him as his skillset remains unchanged.
It is clear that Fernando Alonso wants to stay with Alpine for the near future. The Spanish two time world champion further talked more about what he expected from the French team going further into negotiations in the weeks to come.

“We have to organize video calls or whatever” : Fernando Alonso on his ongoing contract negotiations
“As I said, I would like to stay at Alpine. I will be on vacation, the bosses (Laurent Rossi and Otmar Szafnauer) will also be on vacation, so we have to organize video calls or whatever. But when two parties want to agree about something, it takes 10 minutes,” he said.
“When two parties fight to agree on something, maybe one of the parties is not happy. But it’s not my style to put a gun to the head of someone who doesn’t does not want or does not want to work with me anymore. From my side, I know that it will not take more than 10 minutes,” he continued.
With summer break commencing after this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso currently stands in 10th place in the championship standing with 37 points to his name. His French teammate Esteban Ocon lies ahead of him in 8th with a total of 56 points.
Alpine is on a good trajectory to secure P4 in the constructors championship if they keep up with their performances.
