Fernando Alonso praises Michael Schumacher for ‘making things better’ in F1

Two-time F1 champion Fernando Alonso has been in the sport for a long time and hence has raced with many iconic racers. One of those iconic drivers is Michael Schumacher, who exited the sport in 2006 before coming back for three more seasons in 2010. Now, Alonso has praised the German over the changes brought to the pinnacle of motorsport because of the seven-time champion.

Alonso recalled his racing days against the German and claimed that he lost to his rival more times than he won. In addition to this, the Spaniard added that Schumacher was an inspiration to all the drivers of the generation. Alonso even opened up about how he looked up to Michael Schumacher’s stellar performances in F1 during his days in junior categories.

Adding to the list of compliments for the former German driver, Alonso commented that Schumacher changed how he coped with careers, physical readiness, and other aspects while being in Formula 1. Finally, the 42-year-old exclaimed that many things in Formula 1 ‘changed for the better’ because of Michael Schumacher’s experience and expertise in the sport.

Fernando Alonso is as fit as ever even at the age of 42

The Asturian is currently the oldest driver present on the grid. Additionally, Fernando Alonso has been in the sport for almost 24 years now. Although the two-time champion took a three-year-long sabbatical from the sport in 2018. However, the 42-year-old still isn’t done with the sport as he is as fit as ever even at this age as he follows in the footsteps of the legendary driver Michael Schumacher.

Much like the German driver Schumacher who retired at 42, Alonso has shown no signs to retire from the sport anytime soon. The veteran pushes ahead for his 33rd win in the sport and perhaps even contention for the championship along the way. Regardless, Alonso has been confirmed in Aston Martin for at least another year.

Fernando Alonso moves ahead into the next season with hopes high and aims at winning his race in the season. However, the 42-year-old has talked about his retirement on multiple occasions despite finishing an impressive P4 in the championship standings with a sub-standard AMR23 from Aston Martin.
