Aston Martin had a brilliant season in 2023, with their most successful campaign yet. With a tremendous start led by Fernando Alonso, Aston Martin scored eight podiums across the year, which is a record for the team.

Aston Martin suffered a huge drop in performance nearing the tail end of the year though, as ineffective upgrades led to loss of pace. Technical director of Aston Martin Dan Fallows said that Aston Martin used the last few races as ‘glorified test sessions’ as they were not competing for anything.

Aston Martin eventually finished fifth in the Constructors’ Standings, which is a record high for them. However, star driver Alonso was disappointed by the result, expecting more of the Silverstone-based outfit.

Team principal Mike Krack played a major role in this success. Krack joined Aston Martin in 2022, and led the team to the front in just one year. The Luxembourgish engineer revealed his ‘recipe to success’, elaborating on his policy of working tirelessly and hard until results are produced.

If the cars roll out and we haven't done enough, then we have to work hard to improve. If we did do enough, then we have to work hard to get even better. That is the only recipe that works in Formula 1
Mike Krack said, as reported by gpblog.com

Aston Martin has promised to make further progress in 2024 and onwards, as they predict the field will converge in the upcoming season. Aston Martin themselves will find themselves up against F1 giants like Red Bull, Mercedes, Ferrari and McLaren if they play their cards right.
