Ferrari admits they made ‘too many mistakes’ at the Hungarian GP
Leclerc and Sainz once again fall prey to Ferrari's strategies

Ferrari’s strategies have been under question for a long time now. Charles Leclerc could only finish seventh in Hungary. His teammate Carlos Sainz also managed just to get P8. These results are becoming regular for Ferrari as they had a tough time in Silverstone with a P9 and P10 finish. Ferrari chief Fred Vasseur has stepped up to own the mistakes made on the team’s end.
Regarding Sainz, Fred Vasseur said that while starting him on softs was a good decision, fixing two hard tires proved difficult. On Leclerc, he was of the opinion that he had a good race, but the five-second penalty due to pit lane speeding and the wheel gun issue during his pit stop greatly hurt his results. According to Vasseur, Leclerc would have finished P5 if not for these incidents.
“But I think on our side, it’s much more the fact that we made too many mistakes from the beginning to the end, but it’s not just about the pitstop or the pit entry or the quali yesterday or the management of the tyres and so on. At the end, the potential was probably better than what we showed yesterday, and then today, at least with Charles, we lost 20 seconds in the race,” Vasseur told Autosport.

Charles Leclerc finished seventh in the Hungarian GP after suffering a five-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane and a wheel gun issue in his pit stop. During the race, Leclerc questioned the timing and execution of a team strategy call and seemed rather frustrated.
Post-race, the Frenchman clarified that he was on a high tone due to radio issues. He wanted to make himself heard. However, he downplays his emotional outburst; it is clear that he does not always agree with Ferrari’s strategies.
“The problem is that we have also lots of problems with the radio. And one out of four words is not understood by my engineer. But I just wanted to make sure that they didn’t understand me wrong, and that I want you to go aggressive early, and not aggressive late. It’s difficult. Some races we didn’t do exactly what I wanted to do, but today we did,” said Leclerc
