“Ferrari and Carlos Sainz screwed him,” Tifosi brewing in anger after Charles Leclerc’s race was compromised in Silverstone

Charles Leclerc

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc finished at P4 in the British Grand Prix at the prestigious Silverstone Circuit while his teammate Carlos Sainz took his maiden F1 win. When Alpine’s French driver Esteban Ocon halted on the track, a safety car was sent out while Leclerc was in the lead.

Ferrari called in their Spanish driver Carlos Sainz for a pit stop, just like Mercedes did for 7-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton. However, the Maranello-based racing team left Leclerc on the track with worn-out tyres in the meanwhile.

On the resumption of the race, Leclerc was passed by Sainz and left in front of Sergio Perez of Red Bull. At the restart, the Mexican had passed Hamilton because the latter was having grip issues with his W13. Leclerc and Perez engaged in a wheel-to-wheel battle before Perez grabbed control of the Monacan driver.

Leclerc lingered in P3 for a brief period of time before Hamilton moved in and snatched it away from him while running on newer tyres. Leclerc, who finished in fourth place, expressed extreme dissatisfaction with the tactic. Sainz proceeded to win the race at Silverstone, earning his first-ever Formula One victory.

The Tifosi, the beloved community of Ferrari fans are however extremely displeased with Ferrari strategists as they contend that their mistakes cost Leclerc a victory yesterday. Every point particularly counts at this moment for the Monacan driver who is in third position on the World Drivers’ Championship leaderboard with a total of 126 points behind reigning Formula One World Champion Max Verstappen and Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez respectively.
