Ferrari has officially begun their 2024 season as they have unveiled their challenger, SF-24, to the public. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz participated in a shakedown on the Fiorano circuit afterward. Ferrari’s major goal while developing their new car was to change every aspect of the machinery which cost them solid results last season.
Frédéric Vasseur, the Team Principal of Ferrari, revealed during the car unveiling that “every area” ” of the challenger “has been redesigned” and is constructed on a “wholly new platform.” In comparison to Red Bull, one area where they and all of their competitors struggled was the rear wing. Cardile claims that to increase their potency and straight-line speed, the team has modified their approach.
The Frenchman, who is optimistic about the upcoming championship, covered several topics that Ferrari will be focusing on during the Maranello press conference: Based on their observations in the simulator, they were able to find solutions for the majority of their issues.
From what we saw in the simulator is that we managed to solve most of the problems we had...last year we identified what was wrong and we made improvements on this. 2024 will not be a year of transition, but an important season for us and I am focused on that. I think the best way to prepare for this season is to move forward from 2023 without thinking about 2025 in any way.Frédéric Vasseur said, as reported by formulapassion.it
Fred Vasseur discusses the drama around replacing Lewis Hamilton with Carlos Sainz
It was announced at the beginning of the month that Lewis Hamilton would be leaving Mercedes to shockingly join Ferrari in 2025, taking over Carlos Sainz’s seat. Vasseur acknowledged that both calling Sainz and speaking with a close friend and Mercedes CEO Toto Wolff about the move was challenging.
But despite the drama, he believes Sainz would be a professional in his approach going into the 2024 season. Sainz has already set the goal of fighting for the championship in his final season with the Italian team and the responsibility falls on Ferrari to give him cars capable of doing it.
But I’m fully convinced that he’s a very professional driver. He understands that we have a long season ahead of us. It’s a huge opportunity and I think it’s also a dream situation to have the team behind him.Frédéric Vasseur said: crash.net
