The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola, Italy, marks the beginning of the European leg of the Formula 1 races. The entire paddock has shifted to Ferrari’s home Grand Prix circuit for one of the most important races in the F1 calendar. In this new season with all the updates that the FIA has introduced for F1 2022, F1 experts have already said Scuderia Ferrari is the favourite team to win in Imola.

But as this is the fourth race in the entire calendar, Imola will also be the race where some of the teams unleash their first batch of updates for the 2022 season. One prominent team that has confirmed they will update their car ahead of the Imola GP is Red Bull. The new season of Red Bull, home to the reigning F1 World Champion Max Verstappen, has been quite disappointing so far. While Verstappen wants a second title win, his RB-18 has been plagued with problems that have caused him to retire from two of the three races that have happened till now.

Max Verstappen put up a brilliant performance in 2021 to beat eight-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton and earn the Championship title. But now, the Dutchman is more eager than ever to get the Championship for himself for a second consecutive year. But his chances remain bleak after the first three races of the season because of the reliability issues of his new Red Bull car.

Before Imola, Red Bull had admitted that they needed to make huge changes to their car to bring some stability to it. As fans all around the world have been disappointed at the upsetting performance of the Red Bull cars, they all hope that Verstappen and Perez might finally be able to finish races without worrying about their cars breaking down, now that the new updates are in place.

But Helmut Marko, the Red Bull Advisor, found out Ferrari has not made any changes to their car and that has made him more certain that the Scuderia already has a near-perfect car that does not need any upgrades. Speaking on this, Marko said, “Ferrari is so strong. They don’t even need updates.” The Austrian F1 veteran is in awe of Ferrari’s SF-75 and the reliability and the race pace it offers in this new F1 season.

As Red Bull’s Max Verstappen enters the Imola Grand Prix, he needs 46 points to catch up with Ferrari recruit Charles Leclerc. If the defending World Champion wants to attain his title once again, Red Bull cannot make any more mistakes with their updates and they must see to it that their car gives Verstappen enough power and pace. Will they be able to get Max some much needed Championship points in this week’s Sprint Race and Main Race? That remains to be seen.
