The 2024 F1 season is two races down and already, the Red Bull outfit has started making its impression in the world championship standings. The Milton-Keynes-based has so far amassed 87 points with two 1-2 finishes and amidst this, it has come to light that Ferrari is reportedly trying to bring in three engineers from Red Bulls’ current setup.

Fred Vasseur and Co. failed miserably last year when they tried to recruit Pierre Waché from their arch-rivals. Ferrari is desperate to close the gap to Red Bull and in order to do this, is willing to do anything necessary.

As per the latest, the Italian outfit is trying to poach Red Bull’s following engineers:

The Maranello-based team has identified the areas in which it has to improve during the ongoing campaign and thus, is willing to bring the top-notch talent. Red Bull has been performing at a very high level under the current set of regulations, so from that point of view, it makes a lot of sense for Ferrari.

The SF-24 has already shown that it is lacking in quite a few areas in comparison to Red Bulls’ RB20. In Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, Ferrari’s car failed to produce the kind of output that RB20 was able to produce.

Ferrari engineer admits that the team is struggling

While Ferrari is willing to pull out all the stomps to become a nuisance for Red Bull, Jock Clark (Ferrari engineer) has made it known that the team is struggling with a few issues. Charles Leclerc faced brake issues in Bahrain and Clark has admitted that the team has not fully recovered from it.

We are investigating, obviously we've only had a week between [races] and not even a week, only a couple of days in reality, and the factory is a long way away. We're starting to do it, we've done as much of an investigation as we can - and we're pretty much on top of it, with the help of Brembo [braking systems manufacturer].
Jock Clark said in an interview, as reported by GPFans

Ferrari is currently the second-fastest team on the 2024 F1 grid. However, despite this, the gap to Max Verstappen and Co. is huge and is going to need a lot of work from the Italian team to close it down.

The ongoing campaign still has 22 more races to go and considering this, it is going to be fascinating to see how SF-24 would develop throughout the year. Next up on the F1 calendar is the famous Australian Grand Prix weekend that is slated to kick off on the 22nd of March.
