Ferrari reports Charles Leclerc’s power unit to be beyond repair following the failure in Spain
Charles Leclerc
Charles Leclerc suffered his second DNF on the streets of Baku after his engine blew up after leading the race, the same thing happened with his F1-75 MGU and turbocharger on the Catalunya circuit. He had to get those changed after the reports came out as beyond repair for his engine components after Spain as well. The same thing has happened with the Monacan but this time it’s his whole PU.
Charles after a strategical pit stop in VSC got the lead that was taken from him on Turn 1 of Lap 1 by Red Bull driver Sergio Perez. Inaki Rueda, Ferrari’s strategist predicted a win from the situation Leclerc was in, but all things got shattered when the leading Ferrari had smokes coming from behind. Later it is revealed the PU of that Ferrari is unrepairable thanks to the consequences of the PU problem in Spain.
Charles Leclerc’s win probability in Canada
With Red Bull having a huge advantage on the straights as compared to Ferrari, with 2 DRS zones on the Montreal circuit, it’s going to be a tough job for the Italian team to hold the Austrian Power Train behind them.
With a confirmed Grid Penalty for Charles, it’s going to be tough for the Monacan and his team after the disaster in Baku. The only hope for the Red team is Carlos Sainz, having trouble with his form, to take the hold and stop the two bulls.
Red Bull is 80 points ahead of Ferrari in the championship, with both of its drivers leading the Championship table. Ferrari really needs a strong weekend to still mark their way in the championship.
