FIA President Mohammad Ben Sulayem is in mourning after the unexpected passing of his son in a tragic car accident that took place in Dubai. The governing body for Formula 1 further went on to confirm the news. Apart from that, they clarified that there will be no statement from the governing body. This is allegedly due to the FIA president asking for privacy in these tough times.

FIA president Ben Sulayem was an accomplished rally driver with a lot of respect in the motorsport world. This had led to him being elected as the new president for the FIA back in 2021. The former rally champ had a glorious career during his days but this wasn’t the end for the Sulayem family. The president’s son, Saif Mohammad bin Salim had also been inspired by his father’s career and went on to try and become a racing driver.

Sulayem Jr raced with current Williams driver Logan Sargeant and current McLaren driver Oscar Piastri. However, Saif did not pursue his racing career internationally.
