Alfa Romeo sit 6th in the standings, and quite comfortably so. But it could have been much better for the team, if not for numerous reliability issues and other retirements, especially for rookie Zhou Guanyu. Valtteri Bottas has also quite suffered from them, especially more so in the recent races.

While the Finn looked a good bet for a ‘best of the rest’ competition, it’s all rather fallen away for him. As it stands, he has not been in the points since his retirement in Silverstone. Even his teammate, Zhou, has only been in the points once since Silverstone, which he achieved at the Italian Grand Prix. But Alfa Romeo are unlikely to be challenged from behind, which is at least some consolation.

Recently, the duo answered questions from fans on Twitter. It made for some interesting revelations, such as Bottas describing Zhou as ‘Hot Coffee and Bubble tea’ when being asked to describe their teammate with the help of a food or a drink. Both of them also seemed to agree that pineapple belongs on pizza. Now, there is a part 2 of the Q&A.

The first question came breezing in, and it was certainly an interesting one: ‘Would either of them fight a horse-sized [Frederic, Alfa Romeo team principal] Vasseur or 1000 duck-sized Vasseurs?’ and the Alfa Romeo duo got down to answering:

Valtteri Bottas: Tricky question, huh? I think I would go for the horse-sized Fred [Vasseur]. Just one.

Zhou Guanyu: One is okay. Otherwise, I would have too many enemies.

Question 2: “We need Zhou’s bubble tea order!!!”

Zhou: It’s coming. It will be happening. Not sure which day yet, but maybe I’ll bring it tomorrow.

Question 3: “If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?”

Bottas, straight up: Pizza.

Zhou: Hot pots. [Bottas chuckles]. Cause there’s a lot of things you can have in hot pot you know.

A hot pot, also known as a ‘steamboat’ is a cooking method from China. The basics of a hot pot is that a heat source keeps a ‘soup stock’ simmering, and then you can have it with a variety of ingredients.

The Chinese driver was also asked what he would create if he could make his own bubble tea/coffee flavour, and his answer was simple: ‘Classic milk bubble tea’. As for Bottas, he said the ‘Kahiwa coffee beans’ are perfect. The Finn actually has never tried bubble tea, and when he asked Zhou what he should try, the rookie gave the same answer: Just classic bubble tea.
