Red Bull have agreed to give Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez a fresh engine for the arrow fast Baku circuit. It’s pretty clear that Red Bull seems to have an edge over Ferrari when it comes to strategy with the car. The Baku City circuit is a combination of tricky corners and more importantly, really long straights. Both the Red Bulls already have an advantage over the rest of the pack when it comes to a straight line speed but this will act as an extra layer of protection.

The Spanish GP was a huge turning point for Max Verstappen not in terms of the result but also the fact that there was some damage to Ferrari’s engine, which in turn means that there might be a penalty for them in latter half of the season. The Italian Giants decided to give Charles Leclerc a fresher engine for the Miami GP and since all teams are allowed to only use 3 engines in a season without a penalty, it plays in Red Bull’s hands.

To give more details about the engine, it’s been said that Red Bull will be going with a fresher engine but the specifications shall remain the same. Max Verstappen will be having any sort of alteration to the engine for the first time in the season although he did change his exhaust whereas Sergio Perez did opt for a new TC and MGU-H earlier in the season.

Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez will definitely have more power as compared to previous races. Out of the two, Max Verstappen looks the more determined one for Baku after what happened last year. Ahead of the race, he said, “I’m looking forward to returning to Baku, we have some unfinished business there after last year.”

“It’s a tricky track with big braking zones and a tight run off, finding the best set-up for the car will be difficult in terms of making sure we get the correct wing level.

“It will also be interesting to see if we can make our one lap performance better for qualifying as we’ve been lacking a little,” as reported by independent.

Red Bull are not ready to give even the slightest of chance to Ferrari to take advantage of and a new engine for Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez in Baku is a clear example of that. It’ll be interesting to see how Ferrari reacts to that.
