It has been very evident that the six-time F1 race winner Sergio Perez is not able to handle the insurmountable pressure imposed on him by Red Bull. Under Max Verstappen’s shadow, Perez has been unable to deliver consistent results. As his struggles continue, former driver-turned-commentator Ralf Schumacher has claimed he has no future with the team.

Perez’s latest error in a long list of mistakes was at Zandvoort, where he accidentally drove into the pit walls and, in turn, took on a five-second time penalty, which demoted him to P4 from P3. Schumacher reflected on this incident, saying that it proves that Perez cannot deal with his situation very well.

Schumacher also claimed that Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko is infamous for his harsh attitude towards underperforming drivers. He went so far as to say that an agreement for separation in 2024 might have already occurred between the two parties.

“I think his days at Red Bull are numbered. Dr Helmut Marko is not exactly known for his warm-hearted manner in dealing with Perez… Perez appeared to be in a very bad mood, disappointed and absent all weekend. I think there were already agreements regarding a separation after the end of the season,” Schumacher wrote in his column for Sky Sports.

Sergio Perez was once again the victim of the alleged favoritism of Red Bull towards Max Verstappen. Verstappen and Perez have a vast gap between them despite driving the same car, the possibility of the team sabotaging the Mexican has been in the picture for a long time now. Former F1 team owner Gian Carlo Minardi is the latest to question Red Bull’s integrity.

After the first lap chaos when the entire grid switched to inters, Perez was in the lead as he pitted for the wet tire compounds early. After the rain stopped and drivers started ditching inters for slicks, it was expected that Red Bull would first pit Perez, but to everyone’s surprise, they decided to go with Verstappen, which allowed him to undercut Perez.

Minardi, while praising Verstappen’s flawless performance, claimed that Perez was the victim of questionable tactics by his team. He said, “Once again Verstappen took home the win without making the slightest mistake, outclassing his team-mate on whom questionable tactics were adopted.”
