Former F1 racer claims Liam Lawson should have taken Yuki Tsunoda’s place at AlphaTauri

Red Bull’s B team, AlphaTauri revealed that their current line-up won’t change next year. That means Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda will reappear as the two drivers for the team. Chandhok claims Liam Lawson would have faired better than Tsunoda.

Karun Chandhok was recently interviewed and he gave his opinion on next year’s grid in the interview. The racer-turned-presenter commented on AlphaTauri’s line-up for 2024. He said, “I think Liam Lawson deserves a seat in Formula 1, he’s done a great job so far. I would have liked to see a Ricciardo and Lawson lineup at AlphaTauri, I think that would have been a very strong driver lineup.”

Liam Lawson has proven himself a worthy contender for a full-time seat. The 21-year-old made his debut as a replacement driver for the injured Ricciardo and drove a stunning Singapore Grand Prix. With the young Kiwi missing out on a seat in 2024, It’ll be interesting to see when he gets his first break, and where would that be.

Scott McLaughlin wants Daniel Ricciardo back in the Red Bull first team

IndyCar driver Scott McLaughlin replied to a tweet asking him about his preferred Red Bull 2024 Driver Line-up. McLaughlin gave his opinion on what his ideal lineup would look like. Red Bull currently have 4 drivers gunning for 3 seats. Sergio Perez, Liam Lawson, Daniel Ricciardo, and Yuki Tsunoda.

Scott McLaughlin chose his top three – Daniel Ricciardo, Lawson, and Tsunoda. Of his top three, he placed Ricciardo in Red Bull’s first team and the other two at AlphaTauri. The IndyCar racer must have taken Lawson’s display of brilliant pace in only his third Grand Prix at Singapore into account.

Red Bull, having revealed next year’s line-up for both their main team and B-team, AlphaTauri, might swap the four drivers around when the season begins. Red Bull are notoriously known to do just that.
