Former F1 racer’s selfie with ‘The Office’ actor Steve Carell at the Dutch GP was ROYALLY photobombed

The Dutch GP grid welcomed many notable figures. The Hollywood star Steve Carell, widely adored for his portrayal of ‘Micheal Scott’ in the hit TV series ‘The Office’, being one of these figures. The current television commentator and analyst for Sky Sports F1, and a former F1 driver himself, Karun Chandhok posed for a selfie with the famous actor. This selfie was photobombed by another notable figure visiting the F1 grid that day.

The Dutch Royalty, King Willem-Alexander, was present on the F1 grid. He belongs to the Royal House of the Netherlands and is also the notorious photobomber in Chandhok’s selfie. The King seemed to enjoy seeing his fellow countryman, the reigning World Champion, Max Verstappen create history on his home soil. With 9 wins on the trot, the Red Bull Driver now equalled Sebastian Vettel’s record for most consecutive wins in Formula 1.

The Dutch royalty was ecstatic to celebrate Verstappen’s win on home soil. King Willem-Alexander was among the various guest in attendance at the Zandvoort Circuit. As Verstappen held on to take a historic third victory at his home race despite the tricky conditions, the Dutch King showed his appreciation for his compatriot on his way to a third title .

When speaking to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, the King said, “What an ambassador for our country Max is.” It is to be noted that this praise comes in light of Verstappen being appointed ‘Order of Oranje-Nassau’ by the Dutch Minister of Sport following his second consecutive title last season.

The King also commented on the musical performance by the famous conductor André Rieu as he conducted the Johann Strauss Orchestra. Added to that, the Dutch GP can be dubbed a massive success as their own countryman Max Verstappen reigned supreme with a show of his masterful racing skills.
