“Get out of Mercedes, reinvent yourself,” Former F1 Team Boss Eddie Jordan throws a lifeline at Lewis Hamilton to save his plunging scores

The last time Lewis Hamilton won a Grand Prix was in Saudi Arabia in 2021 when he grabbed the top position at the Jeddah GP. Ever since his 103rd resounding victory, the Briton has failed to get back to that spot on the podium. In the 2022 Championship Standings, Lewis was beaten by his debutant Mercedes teammate George Russell and this caused the critics to question Lewis Hamilton‘s declining performance.

With over a hundred race wins and several other records and accolades, Lewis Hamilton is undoubtedly one of the best F1 talents the sport will ever see, but he has not had the best of times recently–and former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan believes he knows why. He said, “He needs to move on just like he did when he was with McLaren. Get out of Mercedes, Lewis. It’s time you reinvented yourself somewhere else.

In 2012, when Lewis took the decision of leaving McLaren, the team that earned him his first World Championship, for Mercedes, he was heavily criticized. But it turned out that he took the best career decision possible as he subsequently won 82 Grands Prix and six World F1 titles thanks to the Brackley outfit. In Eddie Jordan‘s opinion, Lewis needs to realise it is time he makes another shift from Merc to some new team that will help steer him back to his winning ways.

After entering Formula 1 way back in 2007, Lewis Hamilton has spend 16 long years in the highest pinnacle of motorsports. In this time, he has only changed teams once as he went from McLaren to Mercedes in 2012. Now, Eddie Jordan feels Hamilton has lost his motivation being with the same time for 11 years, and thus he should get out there and experiment. So, he commented, “My only concern is that Lewis has to find something else in his mojo now and he needs to get out of there.

In other news, Toto Wolff has put all the blame for the declining scores not on Lewis Hamilton, but on the W14 setup. He even said that although their team has a lot of updates in store for the next few races, be does not feel too hopeful. Now it remains to be seen whether Hamilton manages to find pace with his old team or if the rumors prove to be true and he ends up at some other team, fighting for that record-breaking eighth F1 title.
