The Ferrari Formula 1 team had a disappointing 2023 season. From coming into the campaign with the hope of fighting for the title to ending up in third place behind Mercedes, it was a year to forget for Fred Vassure and company. But ahead of next year, the team is in a positive frame of mind and Vasseur has confirmed that the team will change 95 percent of the parts on the SF-24.

During the 2022 Formula 1 season, Ferrari had a car until the midway point of the campaign that took the fight to Red Bull and Max Verstappen. However, their charge soon ran out of steam for a plethora of reasons and they had to settle for a disappointing second position. Fred Vassuer is approaching a complete 1-year at Ferrari and while talking about its 2024 car, he recently told Motorsport;

We are in a scenario in which a handful of tenths of a second makes the difference. Having said that, we must certainly take a step forward and not underestimate anything, we will change 95% of the components of the single-seater, and when put that way it may seem like a revolution, but it isn't.

Looking at the reaction of the Frenchman, it is quite clear that he fully understands the task that he has on his hands at Ferrari. Vasseur firmly believes that it is important for a champion team like Ferrari to make a step forward next year and thus, has admitted that the SF-24 will be a whole new beast when it first hits the track during 2024 testing.

Would Ferrari be seen in the world championship fight next year?

While Fred Vasseur has made it known that Ferrari will make a whole lot of changes to its 2024 car in a bid for improved performance, the question remains, whether the car would be good enough to fight for the world championship. It has been over a decade since the Italian outfit last won the title.

Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are desperate to have a potent car underneath them, and considering this, the onus is really on Vasseur and his crew to give their all during the ongoing winter break and hopefully, produce a mighty weapon ahead of next year’s campaign.

The Ferrari Formula 1 team has a rich and glorious history at the pinnacle of motor racing and next year, it is just about the right time that they are once again seen stamping their authority in the sport. 2024 will be an immensely vital year for Vasseur and it could decide his future on the Italian team.
