Fredric Vasseur insists that the $430 million Ferrari move ‘is the best’ for Lewis Hamilton

The news of Lewis Hamilton switching from Mercedes to Ferrari has raised huge expectations for 2025 and surprised the entire paddock. When the news first came out it took the entire F1 world by storm. While everyone believed that, Hamilton would stay with Mercedes till his retirement, and take his grand farewell, the seven-time world changed his mind and decided to put the exit clause in the contract to use.
Now in season 2025, Hamilton will join the Maranello in the hopes of claiming his 8th world championship. While speaking to the media about how this was turned into reality, the Ferrari team principal, Fred Vasseur pointed out that it was the best decision for Hamilton after every aspect of came together.

Behind Red Bull, for him, the best option is definitely Ferrari and at the same time it is in line with a childhood dream of his. Also, he knows this is probably his last contract, so he knew he had to make the right choices and that's what he wanted to talk about.Fred Vasseur said, as reported by motorsport.com.
Although the French team principal was unable to point to a clear turning point in the negotiations, he did explain that Hamilton was likely better off trying to win again with Cavallino after the last two seasons with Mercedes were extremely disappointing. He also stated that he just couldn’t see Hamilton driving for Sauber, so when the perfect opportunity presented itself, he took his chance.

The news of Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari in 2025, left many people astonished. The news also left many with questions leading to many speculations. The speculations such as perhaps the seven-time world champion has lost his faith in Mercedes after all. Which led him to make such a bold decision.

Lewis Hamilton has refuted claims that he lost “faith” in Mercedes’s ability to challenge for championships, which led to his decision to leave the team. After creating subpar vehicles for 2022 and 2023, Mercedes designed the W15 traditionally, giving the team a solid foundation on which to build for 2024—Hamilton’s last season.
He intends to join Ferrari in 2025, calling it his “childhood dream” and excited to help the team return to its winning ways after it last took home the Drivers’ Championship in 2007. While all of these are plans, the seven-time world champion claimed that for this season he is a 100% Mercedes driver and his sole focus is on bringing the team back on top.
