Carlos Sainz did a mega race for Ferrari after starting from the back of the grid and it is very much evident from the sector times that he managed during the race.

Carlos Sainz had the fastest sector timings and was also able to do the fastest lap on the 3.630 miles Paul Ricard circuit. The Spaniard’s applaud-worthy push from P20 to P5 was epic considering his teammate Charles Leclerc wasn’t able to finish the race after crashing into the barriers on lap 18.

Charles Leclerc was out of the French Grand Prix after lap 18 and his hopes of closing the gap to Max Verstappen were put to bed. However, Carlos Sainz’s P5 finish has helped the team in doing damage limitation in the Constructors Championship.

After France, Ferrari is on 314 points in the Championship whereas Red Bull has extended its lead further and has now got massive 396 points in its bag.

There are still 10 races to go in the 2022 Formula One season and given the unpredictability of the sport, anything is possible, who knows if Ferrari is able to string up a decent number of performances in the upcoming races, then they might get back in the hunt for both the Championships.
