Gene Haas sounds optimistic about his team’s 2023 F1 Championship campaign

In 2022, Haas had quite a good F1 Championship campaign because of their one decision that paid back in loads–taking up Kevin Magnussen in place of Nikita Mazepin. Magnussen had previously been a part of the American team till 2020, but he was let go alongwith Romain Grosjean as Haas wanted some fresh talent to take their seats. While Mick Schumacher did perform well, Mazepin was not yielding results at all. And then came the controversy surrounding Nikita Mazepin’s contract with Haas amidst the Ukraine-Russia war.
To show their support towards Ukraine, Haas finally severed ties with Nikita Mazepin and their chief sponsor Uralkali and called up Magnussen. After earning another chance to enter into the king class of motorsports, the Danish racer gave it his all and got Haas their best ever finish in the season opener in Bahrain. Kevin Magnussen even got a pole position at the Brazil Grand Prix by amazing everyone with his performance. And ultimately, the American team ended the season on a high in the eighth position, leaving behind Williams and AlphaTauri.
As they are stepping into a new F1 season altogether, Haas’ main man Gene Haas talked about what lies ahead of the team now. The car-launch for Haas’ 2023 campaign happened only a few days ago and on February 11, in Silverstone, the all-new Haas VF-23 will be seen doing some rounds for the first time. But the junior Schumacher will not be seen with the team thi year as he is being replaced by Nico Hulkenberg–another racer whom Haas is bringing out of F1 exile and giving another chance at proving himself.

Gene Haas welcomes MoneyGram as Haas’ chief sponsor ahead of the 2023 season
As a small F1 team that does not have the giant funds and big sponsors to pump up its activities, Haas is known to have some financial setbacks every year. But now, MoneyGram has agreed to support the team, so the new Haas will feature MoneyGram’s giant logo on the predominantly black livery.
Speaking of the year that lies ahead for the team, Gene Haas said, “We head into a new season buoyed by some strong team performances last year and a return to points paying finishes. The aim for the 2023 season is naturally to do that more consistently and with Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg I certainly believe we’ve got an experienced driver pairing more than capable of delivering those points on a Sunday.”
Then, Gene also talked about their new sponsor, saying, “I was very pleased to welcome MoneyGram as title partner for the 2023 season and beyond, and it’s exciting to see our first livery unveiled together as MoneyGram Haas F1 Team.”
For 2023, Haas was the last team to announce their car launch date and the first team to actually reveal their car. Now, the team that is going to have their curtain-raiser next is Red Bull, last year’s Champions. They will be followed by Williams and Alfa Romeo.
