British driver George Russell sustained a mediocre season this time around. As compared to the 2022 results, Russell could not out-perform his teammate Lewis Hamilton and concluded the season with a mere eight spot on the driver’s standings. However, the 25-year-old has pondered over the performances for the following season.
George Russell asserted that the 2023 season was undoubtedly the toughest season for him. The missed opportunities, missed results and mistakes were a clear indication of having to push beyond the limit. Additionally, the Briton claimed that he wouldn’t make a single mistake in the next season as he pushes ahead for the next season.
No doubt, it’s been probably the toughest season I’ve ever had psychologically. Bouncing back from missed opportunities, missed results, mistakes. I think this is when you push yourself. I could comfortably lift my foot off the gas pedal and drive a per cent below the limit and I could sit here right now and tell you that I wouldn’t make a single mistake.Russell told motorsportmagazine.com.

Talking about the championship years for the 25-year-old, he simply wanted to push himself as much as he could. Russell reckoned that he was purposely pushing himself further and beyond. The Briton even revealed that he was not satisfied by just being on par with his teammate Lewis Hamilton and wanted to outshine him in every aspect.
And probably when I sit through my Championship years, I probably wasn’t being pushed as much as I’m pushing myself now. I’m purposely trying to push myself further and beyond, and I’m not satisfied with just being on par with my team-mate in qualifying or whatever it may be.
George Russell reflected on the 2022 season of Formula 1
As the winless 2023 season was concluded with a P3 finish at the Abu Dhabi GP, Russell reflected upon the previous season against Hamilton. In the previous season, Russell managed to score a victory in the season compared to the winless stint from Lewis Hamilton in 2022. The 25-year-old outshone his teammate in the majority of the aspects.

Even George Russell highlighted that in the 2022 season, both the drivers were very even across the whole season. However, being even was not satisfactory for the young man as he wanted to outshine his teammate in every aspect possible. However, Russell did not have a season of great highlights as Hamilton heavily outperformed him.
Nonetheless, both the drivers tried their best to juice performance from the sub-standard W14 in the season. As the team prepares itself over the winter break with developments to the W15, the crew has displayed optimism over the developing W15 for the next season and aims at scoring much better results.
