Manchester City were over the moon after their historic win against Inter Milan and became the second English club to win the treble. The Premier League champions claimed their first-ever victory in the Champions League. While the players celebrated this momentous occasion, a familiar face from the F1 world was spotted at their party. It was none other than the Mercedes driver George Russell

The Briton is a passionate football fan, and of course, he attended the Champions League final in Istanbul.  Russell watched City defeat Inter Milan 1-0 in the last 45 minutes of the match. Manchester City players and their guests wasted no time after their historic win and went straight to party on Saturday night. Russell even posted an image of him wearing the Champions League medal with the City player Jack Grealish and captioned the post saying, “Massive congrats mate, enjoy the moment.”

Jack Grealish has been labeled a party boy on social media. As City fulfilled their dreams of many years, he went all out to celebrate. Grealish was spotted filming himself joyfully singing at the after-party with George Russell in the audience. Though the 25-year-old F1 driver is a Wolverhampton Wanderers fan, he seemed happy for Pep Guardiola’s team.

Before the match began, George Russell posted an image of him with his father and brother on social media and wished both teams good luck. The caption read, “Such a pleasure attending the Champions League final with my Dad and brother. Good luck Manchester City and Inter Milan, let the best team win!” However, looking at the joy on his face wearing the Champions League medal and standing with Grealish, it is safe to say he low-key supported City.

It turns out there is another connection between Mercedes and Manchester City apart from Russell and Grealish. Mercedes boss Toto Wolff and City’s manager Pep Guardiola became friends after they were spotted together at the 2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Wolff has been fond of the football coach and opened up on the Beyond The Grid podcast about their similarities.

Toto Wolff stated, “The two of us, we didn’t know each other, but when I heard him talking, it was like my sentences, the same approach – and he said the same about me.” He added that it is down to human management, and Guardiola is someone who would be a part of his journey. He said it was because they have the same wavelength.

Apart from George Russell, the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team congratulated Manchester City on social media. They shared a picture of Toto Wolff and Pep Guardiola, stating that the mission was accomplished.
