The Mercedes F1 team has struggled in F1’s ground-effect era. The Silver Arrows have failed to match Max Verstappen and Red Bull in the past two woeful campaigns. Moreover, the Brackley-based team has had another difficult start this year. Nevertheless, George Russell has insisted that the team will benefit from its past lessons in the future.

George Russell admitted that the past two seasons have been challenging for the Silver Arrows. The 26-year-old claimed that this was not just limited to on-track results. Rather, the issues faced by Mercedes in regard to the development of the car. As Toto Wolff‘s squad struggled to understand their cars in the preceding two years.

However, George Russell claimed Mercedes had learnt important lessons over this period. The Briton reckoned that the team had built its tools for further development. Subsequently, Russell highlighted the more efficient correlation between the simulations, wind tunnel and the track. The Mercedes driver was confident that the Silver Arrows will benefit from these improvements in the years to come.

Mercedes currently are fourth in the F1 standings. The Silver Arrows had a disastrous double DNF at the Australian GP due to Lewis Hamilton’s engine failure and Russell’s high-speed crash. Nevertheless, the 26-year-old remains hopeful of his team’s prospects in the foreseeable future.

The Briton highlighted that in the past ten years, Mercedes has won all but two Constructors’ titles with its lowest position being third in 2022. George Russell reckoned that this showed the high expectations of the team. Moreover, Russell was confident that the W15 was a step in the right direction. The 26-year-old mentioned that the Silver Arrows would be working on improving the car in the coming weeks.
