George Russell, the Mercedes Formula 1 driver, had a very indifferent 2023 season. He was not able to match his prolif teammate, Lewis Hamilton but despite this fact, he has given his performnaces a solid out of 10 for this year’s campaign of the pinnacle of motor racing.

However, on the flip side of the coin, he believes that his results were just not good enough. George Russell during the 2023 F1 season was only able to score 175 points in comparison to Lewis Hamilton’s 234. Russell was outperfomed by his teammate in pretty much every department.

If I took my 2022 and gave myself a grade, I would say that my performances were a 7, while the results were a 9. This year I would say that in terms of performance they are an 8, but in terms of results they are on the 4.
George Russell told FormulaPassion about his 2023 campaign.

Looking at the reaction of the young Brit, it is quite clear that he is quite disappointed with the results he has able to attain during the 2023 F1 season. Moreover, has taken the time to look back at his 2022 campaign and indicated that it was a much better campaign for him.

Since joining Mercedes, Russell has several times made it known that he wants to fight for the F1 world championship as soon as possible. However, since 2022, the Brackley-based-team has not been able to produce potent weaponary and has pretty much struggled against the lights of Red Bull.

However, their is a growing belief in the F1 world that Toto Wolff and his team would be able to come up with a championship worthy car for the 2024 F1 season. If this happens to be the case, the team rivalry between Russell and Hamilon would be a fascinating watch.
