George Russell is well-known in the F1 paddock for being straight-up blunt in his interviews. He has recently once again amassed decent limelight for taking a brutal dig at the reigning World Champion, Max Verstappen. Russell after yesterday’s practice sessions has made it known that half of the current grid can dominate in a Red Bull F1 car.

Max Verstappen since the dawn of the new regulations last year, has been pretty much unstoppable at the pinnacle of motor racing. None of the other drivers have been able to stand up against him and he’s been having a pretty relaxed time at the front end of the grid. Verstappen’s teammate, Sergio Perez just hasn’t been able to match him in the same weaponry.

While talking about the same in detail, the 25-year-old told racingnews365.com, “There are 10 drivers you put in a Red Bull and they fight for the victory and the championship, in the same way as a Mercedes for the last years. There are 10 drivers you could put in who will be fighting for victory.”

The British starlet with his comments has made it clear that he does not see Verstappen’s dominance at the pinnacle of motor racing as something special. He ardently believes that there are about 10 drivers on the current grid who have the caliber of taking it to Verstappen and fighting for victories in a Red Bull.

While George Russell has made it known that Max Verstappen’s dominance in Formula 1 is something that half of the grid can achieve, he would be looking for a strong outing from Mercedes’s point of view in front of Verstappen’s die-hard fans at the Zandvoort Formula 1 racing circuit.

The W14 looked strong during yesterday’s practice session at the circuit with both George Russell and Lewis Hamilton putting in solid laps on different fuel levels. Moreover, the latter was at it from the beginning as he managed a P3 finish during FP1 and and put in a time good enough for P4 during FP2.

The Mercedes F1 team is currently second in the F1 World Championship and considering how well the W14 performed at the Zandvoort circuit so far, today’s qualifying session is going to be a fascinating watch for the Mercedes faithful. Several eyes will be on the exploits of Russell and Hamilton during the whole Dutch GP weekend.
