George Russell to set new record if he beats Lewis Hamilton for eighth consecutive race in Canada

George Russell has been a breath of fresh air for Mercedes in a year where they have struggled with the balance of the car. But Mr. Consistency has taken that into his stride and got the job done with the resources available to him. The Brit has not finished out of the top 5 in the first 8 races of the season. While Lewis Hamilton has struggled after the massive overhaul in regulations, George Russell has wasted no time in coming to grips with it.
In the first 8 races, George Russell has finished 7 times ahead of the seven time world champion. We knew that George Russell will pose stiff competition to Lewis but no one saw him dominating him. Other than the first race in Bahrain, where Lewis Hamilton finished ahead of his team to secure his only podium of the season, it’s been the George Russell who has just fought his way through adversity to find a result.
Although Lewis Hamilton might have voted as the driver of the day in Baku, he still finished behind his team mate who secured yet another podium. By, doing so, he has tied with Nico Rosberg’s record of beating Lewis Hamilton in 7 consecutive races. Something that Lewis wouldn’t want to see but that’s the way it is right now. George Russell would have that record for himself outright if he can do the same in Canada.

George Russell looks to be in rich vein of form but feels Mercedes needs to improve considerable if he wants to have a chance to fight with Red Bull and Ferrari. After the race in Baku, he said, “It’s always a team effort.“
“We’ve got to be there at the end. We would have loved to be a bit more in the fight. We probably weren’t as far away as we expected to be honest.”
“We were a little bit quicker than we anticipated, especially compared to the midfield, so silver lining but obviously work to do,” as reported by formula1.
Lewis Hamilton has been his trying his best to extract more out of that W-13 but Mercedes will have to help him out to reach the level of George Russell or this pattern will continue.
