The Canadian GP was a torrid outing for George Russell, who endured damage and as a result had to retire from the race. However, before the race, Russell took a lie detector test with Sky Sports, where has shockingly confessed to crashing into a fellow competitor deliberately, leaving Mercedes and F1 fans shocked.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he was asked whether he ever crashed into a colleague intentionally, George Russell candidly replied, “yes,” and the lie detector analyst confirmed that he was being honest. When questioned further about the action, Russell chose not to disclose the name of the driver involved. Instead, he recalled a past incident from his early racing days when he was regarded as a talented young prodigy. He defended his actions from that time, justifying his behavior.
He said, “When I was go-karting, it was part of the game,” elaborating on his actions. Later on, Russell was interrogated about whether he had engaged in similar actions since his Formula 1 debut in 2019. In response to this inquiry, he responded, “No.” The analyst once again confirmed that he was being truthful, indicating that he has upheld the warranted standard of sportsmanship of F1.
During the 15-minute exercise, Russell appeared visibly uncomfortable at certain moments as his responses underwent scrutiny. He delivered several unexpected answers, which added to the surprising nature of the situation.
George Russell believes he is currently faster than Lewis Hamilton

During the same lie detector test, when asked whether he considered Lewis Hamilton to be the greatest of all time, Russell responded with a firm and confident “yes,” which was supported by the lie detector’s approval, indicating his strong belief. He was further questioned about whether he believed himself to be faster than the experienced British driver at present.
He responded, “Now, yes.” Surprisingly, the lie detector test also verified his statement, affirming Russell’s self-assuredness in his own speed being superior to that of the seasoned Lewis Hamilton. Russell has always been a competitor driven by confidence in his ability on track. In a sport as ruthless as F1, confidence for drivers stems from believing they are the best in the business.
Russell managed to beat his compatriot in his first ever season at Mercedes, an admirable feat. By concluding the 2022 season with 275 points, Russell surpassed Hamilton’s 240 points by a margin of 35. This achievement is notable considering that Hamilton, an experienced British driver, has only been outperformed once by his teammate at Mercedes, specifically in 2016 by Nico Rosberg.
Russell demonstrated his worthiness of a seat at the prestigious Silver Arrows, showcasing significant untapped potential. The 2023 season is not going his way thus far, as he stands 37 points behind his teammate after a point-less race in Montreal. However, with only over a third of the season having concluded, the Briton has plenty of time to mount a comeback.
