Guenther Steiner and Daniel Ricciardo

Guenther Steiner, the Haas Team Principal, has shed light on the situation of Daniel Ricciardo and Haas’s chances of landing him for the 2024 F1 season. The Australian is without a seat during the ongoing campaign and serves as the third driver for the Milton-Keynes-based Red Bull F1 team. He wants to back to racing next year, but nothing is known for certain yet.

Guenther Steiner was alongside Daniel Ricciardo on the plane to Australia, and he has recently asked whether a contract offer at Haas is waiting for Ricciardo; while answering the same, he said, “No, not at the moment. I think Dan is with Red Bull, [but] I don’t know for how long. I actually was with Daniel on the plane to Australia, so we had a little bit of a chat – but not about the contract, just about general life and what is going on, but we didn’t even go there, to be honest.”

So, I don’t know, Daniel wanted to take a year out and then see what he wants to do next, and I think when he is ready, he will phone people up and say: ‘I’m ready again.” Guenther Steiner has made it known that he is not sure what Ricciardo is thinking regarding the 2024 F1 season. Moreover, has admitted that while they were together on the Australia-bound plane, they talked about the general stuff, the day-to-day happenings.

Daniel Ricciardo has committed himself to his former employer(Red Bull) for this year, but nothing is certain regarding what the honey badger is going to do in 2024. While he has made his intention known of returning to the grid next year, there are no guarantees considering the unpredictable nature of the F1 driver market.

Haas showed the exit door to Mick Schumacher at the end of last year, in order to accommodate Nico Hulkenberg as the team’s second driver. Moreover, since the German’s return, the team has looked really strong, with him and Kevin Magnussen in the driver lineup for the Kannopolis-based Formula 1 team.

The duo has performed well in the first three races of the campaign and has been able to put the VF-23 through the winger. Hulkenberg has even managed to amass six points for the team against the midfield heavy hitters like McLaren, Alpine, etc. Moreover, with 20 races left in the campaign, things are looking solid for Steiner’s Haas.

Taking everything into account, even if Daniel Ricciardo would be willing to join Haas in 2023, would he really be able to do so, considering the solid performances that Hulkenberg and Magnussen have put for the team so far in the season? Everything is up in the air as far as Ricciardo is concerned, and it would be fascinating to see whether he would be able to land a seat for 2024 or not.
