The Haas racing team has faced a disappointing late-season stint as the season nears to culminate. The team is holding a disappointing P10 position in the constructors cup with no hopes of improving the position. With the two remaining races, Haas has reverted to the old spec for Nico Hulkenberg.

The team, along with its boss Guenther Steiner, has now resorted to the older spec of the car to produce some better results. However, the boss added that the spec-change was not for comparing the performance but just due to the driver’s preference. Additionally, Steiner claimed that the team had nothing to lose and hence opted to go with their personal choice of car-spec.

The main drive behind this was Nico feels that for him the old spec suits him better, and Kevin is the opposite, We’ve opted to give them what they want, we have two races to go and nothing to lose, so we’ve tried to do what we can.

Steiner said, as reported by racefans.net.

The team is also not concerned about collecting additional data in the late season. The Italian boss added that they had enough data collected and the car-spec decision was left to the drivers as they would be then put into a comfortable position and be happy with the car.

We could discuss gathering data, but we’ve got enough data, it’s a decision based on what each driver likes more than anything else. It puts them in a comfortable position so that they’re as happy as they can be with the car they get.

Guenther Steiner discussed the challenges at the Las Vegas GP

The highly anticipated Las Vegas GP will pose multiple challenges to the drivers. The track area is reportedly going to fall to temperatures as low as 4 degrees Celsius around the Las Vegas street circuit. Steiner acknowledged these issues and added that it also depended a lot on the circuit’s asphalt.

Steiner subsequently added that the circuit was a mixture of temperature and roughness of asphalt that would cause higher degradation in tires. But the boss finally added that the Tire-deg couldn’t get any worse than the previous Brazilian GP’s degradation.

The race results and simulation all depend on the amount of data the teams can collect on the three practice sessions ahead of the qualifying. Furthermore, drivers are now relieved as the race unfolds on a normal weekend, and Haas might attempt to score a few points to challenge Alfa Romeo ahead of them potentially.
