Guenther Steiner rues “missed opportunities” this season

Guenther Steiner, team principal of Haas, has had one of the best season starts he could have ever hoped for. Haas has been struggling for the last two seasons, so much that they were the only teams not to get any points over the whole last season.

Haas finished 10th in 2020 and it didn’t improve in 2021 either. But the new regulation brought the American team where it was between the year 2016-19, thick midfield.

The American Team has managed to score 15 points, all scored by its new but old member Kevin Magnussen.

Haas has been on pace this season, it was the only team not to bring upgrades in the Spanish Grand Prix and managed to get both the drivers in Q3. However, they didn’t manage to come out of the race with any points. All thanks to the mistake and “Missed Opportunities” that caused the team some valuable points.

Guenther mentions, that the team energy is affected by the missed points, “It gets to you a little bit because they are lost opportunities,” but it’s just a matter of time before the team comebacks to be on points “It’s not all bad for us – it’s just like we need to have a little bit of sunshine on a Sunday.”

Gene’s team has been unlucky the last few races, with Mick Schumacher crashing into his friend in Aston Sebastian Vettel losing his first career points in the Miami Grand Prix after being a part of 27 starts now. Magnussen got in contact with Lewis in the very race, Spanish Grand Prix, to get the car damaged and see himself in the 20th position after the first lap.

It’s a big frustration that we ended up where we were after Turn 4,”. “I think Lewis just understeered a little bit and understeered into him, and that was it.” said Steiner.

Haas is aiming to finish in that midfield position ahead of Alfa Tauri and if possible the Alpines, but needs both the drivers to perform on the same quality and score some double points in the coming weekend.
