Here’s how Kevin Magnussen has become the greatest ever F1 driver for Haas
The all-new Formula 1 2022 season has seen the Haas F1 team in a completely new avatar, much to the joy of their fans. The US-owned team, headed by Guenther Steiner, had been struggling in the lowermost spots on the F1 grid in the past few years, but they made a big splash right at the beginning of this year. During the season opener in Bahrain, Haas driver Kevin Magnussen finished the race in the P5 position, Haas’ best score ever since the Austrian Grand Prix way back in 2019.
Even towards the end of 2021, Russian driver Nikita Mazepin was confirmed for the seat at Haas for this year, but amidst the Russia-Ukraine war, the team chose to cut ties with Uralkali and terminate its contract with Mazepin. Then, Kevin Magnussen, who had already driven for Haas alongside Romain Grosjean, was re-appointed with a multi-year contract to be a driver for Haas once more.
And Kevin Magnussen has not disappointed Haas in any way ever since he returned to Formula 1 after his exit from the sporttowards the end of 2020. The Danish racer has scored points by staying in the top 10 in three out of the four races that have happened till now in the F1 2022 season.
Kevin Magnussen has outscored all other Haas drivers’ combined results in the history of the team in F1
If we go by the data, Magnussen has scored 111 point in his career as a Haas driver and all other Haas drivers taken together have scored 101 points in their entire time as Haas racers. This says a lot about the sheer talent and skill that Kevin Magnussen possesses, and how at ease he is with Haas’ new car for the 2022 season–the Haas VF-22.

Haas and Magnussen have made themselves appear as a strong team in the midfield even though Haas was at the back of the grid in the previous seasons. Not only Kevin Magnussen, Haas driver Mick Schumacher has also performed much better this year in his VF-22 than he did last year. In the season opener, he got a P14 finish, and could be in the points if he had put in just some more efforts.
Seeing the team’s advancement in the course of just one year, Haas Team Principal Guenther Steiner has claimed that they are thinking of getting top 10 finishes in every race in this year from now on. The Italian said, “I think it’s realistic that we can aim for points in every race, at least for the first half of the season and then we will see if teams make big upgrades or if they gain a lot of pace.”
He also added, “I’m optimistic that we can keep this form, we just have to try to score points with both cars.”
