“I think we have no one to blame but ourselves” Guenther Steiner reflects on a poor result in Miami
It was the first time that Formula 1 cars raced in the United States this year. The fifth round of the 2022 season was held at the Miami International Autodrome. This meant it was the home race for the only American team on the grid, Haas. The team have had a strong start to its season by grabbing 15 points, which places them in P8 in the constructors championship.
The team sacrificed their previous campaign, for better results in the current one. This has paid dividends for the team so far in the season. The Dane, Kevin Magnussen returned to Formula 1 at the beginning of the season. The driver on his comeback to the sport has shown exceptional performance by scoring all the 15 points that team holds. The driver on the other side of Garage, Mick Schumacher has had a rather modest start to his campaign. The German is yet to score his first points for the team and had the perfect opportunity in Miami.
The One That Got Away For Haas driver, Mick Schumacher
Mick Schumacher was running in P9 and comfortably scoring 9 points at the Miami Grand Prix. Nevertheless, a Lap 54 crash with Sebastian Vettel saw the two German’s tumble down the order and cross the chequered flag out of the point positions. The Dane, Kevin Magnussen also had a rough race as he came home in P14 and also failing to score any point.
HAAS team principal, Guenther Steiner reflected on team’s performance by saying “We were in a bad place [after qualifying]. I think everyone pulled together, we got back into a good position and then, with ten laps to go, it all went up in smoke. Who wouldn’t be disappointed after a weekend like this? I think we have no one to blame but ourselves.”
Stenier is confident with the package Haas possesses as he added “It’s positive but you have to use your potential. With a car like this one it is wasted opportunities. I’m very disappointed with this race. We have to go back to square one and see what we will do in Spain and Monte Carlo. We have to do better than that because we have the car for it.” Haas has definitely shown signs of improvement from their previous season form and surely Mick Schumacher would score his maiden points in Formula 1 very soon.
