Carlos Sainz, the Ferrari starlet, has been suffering from bad luck all season and the recently concluded United States GP was another example of it.

Carlos Sainz started the race from P1 on the grid, however, while going into Turn 1, the Spaniard hit the front right tire of George Russell’s W13 and spun around.

Moreover, while he was somehow able to limp back into the pits after the spin, it was discovered that there was a water-related issue on the car and thus he had to retire from the race.

With the United States GP DNF, the 28-year-old has now taken his tally of DNFs to 6 and it is something that has cost him dearly in terms of points this season.

While stressing on his outing during the post-race interviews, Sainz said, “I was in the middle of a fight with max into turn 1 and suddenly one guy that wasn’t in the battle came from nowhere and bumped into me.

He further adds, “It’s been so many races that I don’t even complete the one lap, so that makes it difficult to make a step forward on race days which shows how frustrated I am and how my year has been, the speed is there, it’s just a very poor year in terms of luck and things happening.”

Carlos Sainz has proved second-best to Charles Leclerc in 2022

Carlos Sainz came into the 2022 F1 season on the back of a very solid 2021 campaign, but because of various reasons, the Spaniard has not been able to put in consistent performances and has managed to win only one race in the season.

Ferrari has got a competitive car this year in which Charles Leclerc has been able to score multiple race victories, however, the same has not been the case for Sainz.

The 28-year-old has had an extremely up-and-down 2022 campaign and as things stand, he is in the fifth position in the Drivers Championship in comparison to Leclerc who is in the second position.

The points deficit between the two drivers is quite a lot and considering everything that has gone on with Carlos Sainz during the current campaign, would he be able to outperform his teammate in the remaining three races of the season?
