Red Bull Racing's Team Principal Christian Horner and Max Verstappen after the latter's maiden championship win
Max Verstappen has had a very good relationship with team Principal Christian Horner right from the time he entered F1 and recently during a chat with former Red Bull driver, David Coulthard, Verstappen has shed light on how influential he has been within the team and his relationship with the experienced Brit.
The 24-year-old was asked by Coulthard if Horner has also put effort into their relationship, Verstappen said, “I think so. I think also for the whole team it’s very positive.”
“He understands our point of view [as drivers] and he is a great motivator within the team. He is there for anyone. If they have issues or something like that, he always talks to them, or at least he makes sure everyone is feeling good.”
The Dutchman believes that he could not have asked for a better team principal than Christian Horner as according to him, Horner has all the qualities that are required to effectively run a big team like Red Bull.
Moreover, Horner has been with the team since 2005 and knows how to deal with people and more importantly how to handle difficult situations that pop up every now and then in the sport.
Max Verstappen: I get on very well with him
Max is a huge fan of the work that Horner has done for the team during his tenure and feels that the latter’s communication skills are what makes him stand apart from the rest of the team Principals in the sport.
The Dutchman while praising Horner said, “I think that’s very important as a team boss, I get on really well with him, of course, I’ve known him for quite a few years. We’ve had a lot of good moments, and of course a few little bad moments, but that’s part of a relationship in general. It’s really enjoyable to work with Christian.”
Jos Verstappen also has indicated that Red Bull is a special team and that their straightforwardness is what helps in keeping the relationship strong and believes that it has done wonders for Max Verstappen in developing as a Formula One driver.
