Max Verstappen, after the Japanese Grand Prix, has become a 2-time F1 World Champion and former driver, Mario Andretti has praised the Dutchman for his superb showing during the current campaign.

Max Verstappen has been in a class of his own this year and none of the other drivers have managed to get anywhere near the prolific 25-year-old.

During the initial stages of the season, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc was in the running to fight for the title, however, as the season progressed, his challenge simply died down.

Last year, Max was fighting to get his first World title in the sport and there was palpable tension during Grand Prix events, but come 2022, he has become a totally changed person who has stayed extremely calm no matter the situation.

Mario Andretti, being a former F1 driver himself, knows how tough the sport can be at times on the drivers and has thus appreciated Max on his 2022 triumph, “It’s deserving as you can see. Dominating so far this season and he will probably dominate the rest of the way. A perfect example of what a world champion should be.”

Max Verstappen has managed to breeze past the competition in 2022 and while it is somewhat down to how well he has performed as a driver, the credit also goes to the Red Bull team for coming up with potent machinery like the RB18.

They have got the best package this year and on the back of the machinery, Max has been able to showcase his skills as an F1 driver. It is very much evident from the fact that, in Singapore, Max had a lackluster outing, but he and Red Bull were immediately able to bounce back during the Japanese GP.

Andretti further adds, “Max is where he needs to be right now, he’s complete. His race craft is superb, a lot of credit to the team. A lot of credit to the team, strategies are always right on. When you have that going for you, that’s it. He’s a tough one to beat and it seems like he is there for the foreseeable future for sure.”

While Andretti has praised Max, he has also applauded the Red Bull F1 team for not making any unnecessary errors during races and always being on top of their game.

He further feels that Max is on the right team and in the upcoming years, it is going to get harder and harder for the other drivers to get the better of the Dutchman.
